Reflections on and reaction to The Lovely Water, by Adrienne Silcock.
Born in the South of England, Adrienne has lived in France, North Yorkshire and Lincoln, working in community education and mental health services. Her first novel Vermin (Flambard) was published in 2000. Her second novel Controlling Aphrodite was shortlisted for the Virginia Prize 2009. Her poetry and short stories have appeared in various small press magazines, and she was involved in the Voices of Women Leeds performance poetry project in conjunction with Wicked Words Poetry, Leeds. In 1998 she won the Old Meeting House play-writing competition. Recently she has been travelling in Europe, "gathering material", and has nearly finished her third novel. The Lovely Water is part of a short story collection, Tales from the Continent.
